Something About Winter

Something about a dark snowy Michigan winter drives me back to the world of blogging. After a very long hiatus I am back for more blogging. Instead of kicking up a new one, I’ll pick up right where I left off with my 12 devoted followers. Great things come in dozens, doughnuts, eggs, Milwaukee’s Beast, and of course, Jesus’ disciples. I’m in good company.

Two great things have happened since I last logged on. I’m going to marry the love of my life, Katty (pronounced Katie). I now have a promising career and a work environment that I actually sort of enjoy. A career and a spouse are two things many people spend their entire lives looking for, and I have them both lined up at 25. I’m ecstatic. I really am. But I’m still not where I want to be. I have some goals I need to reach.

Those goals are:

  1. Pay off debt
  2. Lose weight
  3. Advance in my career
  4. Save up for this wedding

That is a lot to be focused on. And I haven’t been living an intentional lifestyle. I have been drifting. My debt and my weight are crushing me, literally and figuratively.  Since I’m not very good at figuring stuff out on my own, I turned to a book. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.

I have heard of this book before, I actually bought it before, but never started to read it until today. What I’m planning on doing is posting as I read. I didn’t come close to the 26 books I wanted to read last year and I’m not exactly off to a hot start this year, so a good way to keep the post-count up is to just post, even if I break books down by sections. Or I can just post random stuff.

I will try to keep things book-related. No promises though. Happy belated 2018!
